Comic Hiatus and Website Birthday

First off, our website turned 1 year old on March 1st. Also, March 3rd, yesterday, marked my and Jessica’s 8-year anniversary. To celebrate it, Jessica drew this, uh ... self-portrait (I’m not sure what that says about our relationship).

Jessica Safron

Anyway, it’s been an interesting year. We’ve learned quite a bit about this whole making webcomics thing. And we now have dozens of fans. Dozens!

So now that we’ve posted the final page of issue 2, we’re going to take a hiatus from comic updates for awhile.

How long of a while? It’s really hard to say, but at least a couple months. Hopefully no more than three. This isn’t actually going to be a break for us though. During this time, Jessica is going to spruce up some of the current comic pages that were rushed out before they were completely done in order to prevent them from being really late. She’s also going to make the cover for issue 3, and work on a whole bunch of other Satan Ninja related art that’s been on the backburner for a long time due to her focusing on the comic pages. And there are some other super rad things that we’ll be working on that we aren’t quite ready to reveal yet..

We’re also going to be making some changes to the website, which will go live when we’re ready to come back from our hiatus.

But we’re not simply going to go silent for a few months. I’ll still post weekly articles, both to keep you up to date on what we’re doing behind the scenes, and to share more awesome and/or awesomely terrible ‘80s media we come across. And we’ll still be active on our forum, so you should, like, totally join in. Our webdude made it super easy to log in with Google or Facebook or whatever.

Also, if you want to stay up to date on the comic, check out the sidebar over there to the left (or at the bottom if you’re on a tiny screen) where we have some adorable little icons. You can click those to like our page on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, do whatever it is that people do with RSS feeds, or subscribe to our mailing list (rhe first thing I always do after I post a comic page or a new article is send out an email notification to everyone who’s subscribed to our mailing list—and you can choose to get notified only about comic page updates if you don’t give a shit about my articles).

So that’s where we are now. This first year has been a trial of sorts. Or you could think of it as a beta test. Once we come back from our hiatus, that’ll be the end of the trial/beta period. At that point, we’ll start paying for advertisements and really try to make more people aware of this comic.

Finally, I wanted to thank our most vocal supporters: Rijst, aett, Michigander1911, Williams Beaumont, and Rae. You dudes rule, and hearing your feedback week to week has been awesome. Thanks for being bad enough dudes to support our comic. Also, thanks a lot to our awesome webdude, Ghoul. He put a lot of work into making this the raddest webcomic site ever.
