Ohhhh man the first battle versus the Satan Ninja is about to go down. Maybe Eddie will accidentally kill her. That would be a dramatic dark twist.

Did Alex leap over that fence? That's impressive considering it looks as tall as the characters. She really does have sweet martial art skills.

SO FUCKING RAD!!!

Those updates are totally rad!

I am digging the lighting changes for the party. Looks awesome now.

Eddie has a lot of shelves.. and lost his preference for abstract art.. and now enjoys wearing stained clothing.

Satanlich looks like he is frozen in some kind of.. extraplanar data center. I picture servers running inside those block boxes. Maybe he is frozen because this data center has its air conditioning system turned way up.

I can do some python programming. This needs to happen once my thesis corrections are in, if only it's just a test version for the concept..

Noted for the future. Ghoul actually does programming as well, and he's always wanted to make a game, so we might be all set in regards to that, assuming he isn't too busy if or when the time comes.

Yeah, I got my start in tech modding DooM and Half-Life back in the day and moved on to web stuff from there. Small scale game development is much more in reach these days. There are a lot of tools and resources for building out games and pushing them to all the platforms. This has resulted in a TON of competition and building a successful game is really difficult.

I do plan on helping to build the Satan Ninja game(s) some day  when the comic gets to that point. I've done quite a bit of research on modern game engine architectures and such...

I would be right at home in that bed with all those spooky characters. It would be one hell of an orgy. Especially that titmouth thing..

If she was undead like me, she wouldn't have to worry about pesky diseases. I suggest she become undead.

Really though, I hope she feels better. That sounds horrible. D:

Holy shit. Veronica looks mesmerized by Eddie's sweet karate stance. Too bad that nice suit seems like it is about to be ruined...

Watching that made me realize that the choreography of the fighting is so much more interesting in The Matrix than it was in the Star Wars prequels. They're both too clean in my opinion.. could use a bit of grit and emotion.. but The Matrix does it a lot better.

Discuss Anything / Re: slow server performance
« on: October 12, 2014, 06:41:19 PM »
At some point it will make sense to evolve the server toward using Varnish, PHP-FPM, nginx or Apache with the event MPM, dedicated VPS instead of shared, more memory, etc. The biggest gain will be from using Varnish to handle any massive traffic spikes from Reddit or the like. Since Varnish doesn't support HTTPS and the site is only HTTPS, that means using something like pound, HAProxy, nginx (for SSL termination, some people run an "nginx sandwich" with Varnish in the middle), or whatever else is out there.

However, since the site is still in its infancy and isn't receiving enough traffic to crush the VPS, I'm comfortable leaving it in its current configuration. Right now the server uses PHP via the FCGID (FastCGI) module, not as an Apache DSO module, and does have a variety of tweaks in place to help with performance. As does Drupal.

If you up the number of connections to make in your ApacheBench command, you'll see the server is well equipped to handle many requests per second. I haven't done extensive testing, and ApacheBench itself has issues since it only requests the HTML page and doesn't request any resources referenced in the HTML page, but even so:
