Discuss Anything / Re: A Satanic Christmas in Michigan

Quote from: Rev. David Bullock of Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church
"This is strange, Christmas is being hijacked by Satan. I understand that there is liberty. we have religious freedom, but there are limits to how these rights are supposed to be exercised."

Isn't it great how people think concepts such as liberty and freedom require their interpretation. He's got the right to have a problem with satanist displays, but this is simply an invalid argument. Why should religious freedom end where it clashes with his beliefs?

I love this comment though:
Quote from: Joseph George
Ken Weeks They don't believe in a Satan as a real being. But you believe in someone who is said to have drowned almost all animals and people at once.

I was thinking about the beach intro with the translucent "ghost" characters. My best guess is that it's the movie's way of showing us that we are witnessing events of an age long past. Or something like that. Maybe trying to find any sort of logic in this movie is a waste of time.

We should try nonetheless, after all we succeeded with the Motley Crue video.

This is a much tougher nut to crack though, because of it's length and because I haven't really seen it. Translucent ghost characters are just a lazy way of explaining back stories, although they fail miserably even at that. Maybe the message is 'being a man doesn't prevent your head from being cut off" and "being one with nature results in dolphins swimming to the rescue when you're tied to a cross and thrown into the sea"

If she was undead like me, she wouldn't have to worry about pesky diseases. I suggest she become undead.

She'd have to worry about limbs falling off instead, which surely doesn't aid the drawing process either. ;)

Get well soon Jessica, being sick sucks generally but during Christmas it's extra shitty..

That zombie-shark battle requires no further comment, except that the music is vaguely ambient-like..

What can I say, this movie sounds amazing. Fem-Destro looks like a case of Nice legs, shame about her face, while the guy who we think is the main character dies lamely and off-screen. Conan Lee looks much more like a proper barbarian anyway..

This film also takes the idea of expendable minor character to the next level, with even Conan Lee sniping off a caveman for shits 'n giggles. I like the bone-chucks though, much better than the manliness-powered bow.

I'm still too impressed with this to say any more..

What the..
I'm going to let this one sink in for a while before I respond properly.

Fun production fact:

When I was sketching this page, I felt like the panel where Dean throws the pig was coming along a little awkwardly. I ended up recording a reference video of Adam repeatedly tossing a big Hello Kitty doll onto an elevated upside-down laundry basket.

This little artist tid-bit is pure gold.

Indeed, please post this video!

Yesss. Can't decide what I like more: the punch itself or Dean's post-punch disbelief.

Haha PPDB is the new PTSD..

Holy shit! Eddie is the man right now.

I think that is the fastest I've read a page so far. I'm gonna have to go back and let all the details soak in.

Yeah! Good thing I read this just before lunch. I'm just going to sit there and let this sink in. I hope his six months of karate lessons make a difference..

Well I'm guessing his six months won't help a bit, but much respect for standing up for himself.  I'm guessing that will win points with Veronica.

Unless he gets beaten up of course, Veronica just wants to get back at Dean. She's also all coked up..

One of our favorite pages so far. We realized while Jessica was drawing it that this is the first punch of the comic.

The first of many...

First one indeed, we've seen Viperelli shoot the ninjas and the bounty hunter-hreigh kick but no punches yet..

Seriously though, I'm surprised you guys even bothered with it after that taster.

All in the line of duty. By the time we're done with the comic we'll probably have seen just about every '80s genre movie there is. Gotta find those hidden gems.

If you haven't burned out your eyes with bleach by then. Thanks for taking one for team though, we'd have to muddle through all the pish ourselves if it weren't for you guys..

Good. You deserve that after enticing me to watch Superman III with that robot transformation clip you posted. We suffered through that abomination this morning. So bad (the bad bad, not the good bad).

Are you sure you just didn't like it because of the flu? Maybe you should try again in a few days..

Thanks for the loop video, I turned it on and walked away to finish preparing my food. Took me a while to realise there wasn't going to be anything else..

373
Shit, that's what we should've done. Eddie could have realized that the only thing that still properly fit him was his Hitler costume from his high school production of Bionic Commando, the Musical.

I would definitely go see that..

The  demon-and-stupid-board-game-fearing individuals are in fact female.

P.S. I am not a He. Geez, this post induced a lot of gender confusion.
P.P.S. I do not have a new shirt...

I stand corrected, twice..  :-[

Sorry, but I'm trying to get over this flu, and that just wasn't helping. I'm just going to assume she's crying because she's about to get hit by a wrecking ball, and leave it at that.

Haha I imagine you sitting there, feeling sorry for yourself, cringing in agony because of this video. Perhaps I'm a bit of a sadist for laughing at that come to think of it..

Clearly wrecking balls are ubiquitous in music videos, but the difference in usage with keytars is obvious..

Very true Rijst.  I almost forgot this started as my sideways insult to keytars.

It only went downhill from there I'm afraid, my bad..
