Hey Adam and Jessica!  Greetings from Canada!

I've been checking out this site for a while and I've finally decided to stop being a lurker and actually become a member.  I just want to say that I love what you two are doing and I always look forward to seeing new pages.  I understand that sometimes putting out new pages can take a while, but rest assured I'm not going to lose patience and give up on you guys.  I plan on sticking around for the long haul.  I can really tell that Satan Ninja 198X is a true labour of love and I appreciate all the effort that you two put into it.  Keep up the great work!

Whoa, thanks a lot, you just made our fucking night, dude! Thanks for de-lurking and joining the party. It's a small party, but it has the raddests of guests.

Now I'll ask my go-to question when a new member joins: how did you first discover us?

Nice avatar. Arthas, right? I loved Warcraft III, but never got into World of Warcraft like several of my friends did. I've always been a bit resentful of its extreme success because that robbed the world of a proper Warcraft IV.

I haven't seen either movies. The last captain america I saw was the second one but that was a month ago.

I'm amused by the fact that Brotagonist apparently signed up for the forums only to respond to this thread and say that he hasn't seen the movies in question.

So I went with Heather, though I think it will be a tough race between her, her sister Alex, Ket, and Minxy

Minxy has the disadvantage of hardly being in the comic so far. She's been on the TV once, on Eddie's poster, and on the Demon Hammer album cover that you can barely see within the comic. But that'll change...

Don't think Veronica will be a top contender, huh? What've you got against blondes?

I also really could have picked Eddie, Joe, and Viper.

Glad to see someone's fond of Joe. He seems like the type of character that wouldn't get much love. I know he's Jessica's least favorite of Eddie's friend group. Maybe that why she rarely gives him lips.

Well I'm glad you dudes are being so understanding about the revamped update schedule. But then again, we have the greatest fans, so I shouldn't be surprised.

The quality of the drawings make waiting more than worth it and I guess it definitely beats having to go back and redo panels later on.

This will absolutely cut down on rushed out pages that Jessica later needs to go back and touch up. But I'm sure the occasional little update will still happen. We already have a to-do list of things to add or change about the existing issue 3 pages. For instance, we need to fix a continuity error on the previous page, since Scorp should be holding his bottle.

This page is awesome.  Not only a great action sequence but in true 80's style,  bad guys go down one at a time leading to the toughest of them all getting beaten effortlessly by the hero.

Wait, are you saying that Toxic (pink-haired babe) is the toughest of the punks? I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm wondering what brought you to that conclusion. Is it the lack of a bra betraying her confidence?

As for posting when the page is complete, I think that will work best for you guy's.   Anytime you run your own business it is very stressful and it's important to recognize your limits and what is worth putting your happiness and health at risk.  As with any job cancelling plans and working long hours on occasion is necessary but too much of that is not a good thing.   I can see how the comic can be extra stressfull at times due to the nature of keeping people happy on the internet.

Yeah, not only do we want to get our neon-ninja-clad baby out into the world ASAP, but we also worry that if we fail to release pages on a regular schedule, that people will grow impatient and move on. After all, the internet isn't known for having the longest attention span. We've certainly seen several forum members come and go and can only speculate on whether they simply decided to go into lurk mode, or if they moved on.

Radical Page!!!! You guys never disappoint! Amazing on every level!

Really great page and really great news about the less stressful page deadlines. :D

Thanks! You dudes rule.

Awesome page!

Oh man, it's awesome to see you again, Australian Dude!

Sweet revenge! Say, could Eddie now go back to the arcade and finally get the Bad Dudes VS. Satan Ninja victory these punks robbed him off? Or is the game simply THAT hard?

All I'll say is that Eddie and Double Dudes Vs. Satan Ninja shall be reunited at some point.

And updating that schedule is much better as well, with the detail that goes into this, it's crazy to expect a Saturday release EVERY time, besides, your Saturday's a Sunday where I am anyway. This should allow for a more fluid schedule that can take in different efforts each page requires.

Right, it makes sense to us. But I've read that the worst thing a webcomic can do is fail to release pages on a consistent set schedule. But we already break all sorts of rules about webcomics, so fuck it. Our comic is rad enough to break all the rules and still succeed. At least, you know, that's the hope.

Awesome! We finally arrive at the moment where Eddie gets to kick ass with his newfound ninja powers. I’ve been looking forward to seeing this scene brought to life for years, and Jessica didn't disappoint.

Quite a difficult choice but it has to be Viper, he's only made a short appearance so far but I can see him being a total badass in this comic!

I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Well I just so happen to have some great suggestions for how you (and others in your predicament!) can help fill that SN8X-shaped void in your soul: [...]

Adam, how could you forget to mention the exclusive bonus Satan Ninja comic strips that I do for my patrons on Patreon? https://www.patreon.com/JessicaSafron

Oops. Speaking of that, you gotta finish the bonus scene with the C&C cult before July ends in two days. Fuck, this summer is going by too quickly.

Oh man, I almost forgot I was going to drop science and become a big-time Hollywood producer and then approach you with an irresistible offer for you to write and direct a big budget movie adaptation of SN8X. I'm so easily distracted..

Damn you scientist dudes and your easily distractible natures!

Thanks for listening, guys! I think I remember this podcast episode getting a little better in the second half, so I hope you finish it up, Rijst!

I did and it was grand! It reminded me I love watching these horrible movies with a beer and a few pals and just laugh our arses off. I think peak-shittiness was reached when I rented "The Convent" on video and did just that (trailer). Hilarious!

You guys would probably love it..

I've never seen The Convent, but I just watched the trailer. Wow, that pretty much epitomizes the trashy straight-to-DVD stuff that was coming out around 2000. I was surprised to see Adrienne Barbeau in it. She was in a bunch of early '80s cult films (The Fog, Swamp Thing, Creep Show, Escape From New York). She always had that terrible '80s poof hair, but it was pretty easy to overlook because she was always showing off her impressive jugs.

I have not saw Vision Quest, though I have heard of it.  The main character is Matthew Modine who was Pvt. Joker in Full Metal Jacket as well.

Ah, we haven't seen Full Metal Jacket yet, but it's in our queue.

Jackie Chan is awesome.  I haven't watched Police Story in a very long time, but it is a great movie because of the constant stunts and action.  I thought Rush Hour was great when it came out and for what it is I don't consider it a bad movie now.

I don't have much of an opinion on Rush Hour, since I only half-assed watched it and hardly remember anything. At the time, I think I was still mega annoyed at Chris Tucker for his ultra obnoxious character in 5th Element.

I think the best part of the Radicast is going to be Adam trying to talk Jess into giving something a rating at the end.  It's always like Adam want's to make something up for a Satan factor and Jess is like no not at all.

Yeah man, I think it's fun to do mental gymnastics to find the Satan in a totally non-Satantic movie. Some people have a knack for finding the good in everyone, I'm more into finding the Satan in everything.

Listed in alphabetical order. Maybe once we hit a certain number of votes, we can declare the winning babe Miss SN8X-verse and Jessica could do a new pinup of the character or something.

Webdude Ghoul just enabled poll-creating functionality to the forums, so I thought I'd test it out with this. I listed the characters in the same order they appear on the "About the Characters" page of the site.

253
Pretty much. It's on an open tab and when I have time I go through the listings bookmarking webcomics that I think might be decent, starting from where I left off, and it's rare that I see one that I love as much as yours. Unfortunately I binge-read your comic, and got to the end too fast   :-\ Now I have "show hole" (if that can be applied to webcomics)...

Well I just so happen to have some great suggestions for how you (and others in your predicament!) can help fill that SN8X-shaped void in your soul:

  • If you haven't already, explore the depths of the site to make such rad discoveries as character bios, live-action promo videos, SN8X interviews, '80s movie reviews (both in article and podcast flavors), a rather excessive FAQ, among other wonders!
  • Re-read the comic and this time check out the commentary for each page to see all the witty (and insightful!) comments.
  • Re-read the comic while noting the various tropes and adding those to the Satan Ninja 198X TV Tropes page (a badass fan of ours created it, but no tropes have been added yet :'( ).
  • Become a big-time Hollywood producer and then approach us with an irresistible offer for us to write and direct a big budget movie adaptation of SN8X.
  • Write an erotic Satan Ninja fan fiction novel, and then change the names of the characters to hide the fact it's based on the Satan Ninja intellectual property and publish it to poor reviews but massive success.
  • Go out and find your very own Shinobi Fist of Hellpower and then become a Satan Ninja, rendering this comic unappealing to you because you live the "real deal."

Hope that helps!

How'd you discover our mega obscure but mega radical comic?
I came across your webcomic while browsing http://www.topwebcomics.com

Whoa, I wasn't expecting that. You must've really been digging deep through that site, since we've yet to announce to our fans that we're listed there, or encourage anyone to go there and vote for us. We'll have to make a button for that soon. I see they've updated the site, so we'll also have to make a bigger banner to fit the new format.

Anyway, glad you were able to find us!

Quick question-Have you ever created characters based on family and/or friends?

Yeah, actually. Psycho Sam was originally based on one of my best high school friends, who's also named Sam. Back around 2000, when this story was a movie script I wrote called Dark Relic, I had intended for my friend to play a fictionalized version of himself. However, the movie never ended up getting made. Years later, when Jessica and I decided to resurrect the story and turn it into a badass comic book, we kept the character of Psycho Sam, but changed him up to fit the '80s setting and so that he'd resemble my buddy less.

And of course, Dude Shinobi is based on me. But I'm sure that's obvious to everyone as he's pretty much an exact clone.
