~Some DBZ complaints~

I may have said this at some point on the site before, but I'm a big fan of fights that are quick and brutal. Long, drawn-out battles tend to lose their impact and I start to get bored. I'm speaking in general, as I do think that long fights can be pulled off successfully, if they're done well.

But yeah, there certainly won't be DBZ-esque twenty-page battles in our comic.

And there also won't be a martial arts tournament story-arc.

No one in their right minds would fight a dude who looks like he's on fire anyway! Quick and brutal is realistic, people stop thinking after a blow or two anyway. Like Mike Tyson allegedly said; "Everyone's got a plan until they get punched in the face"..

I'm having a Dragon Ball flash back!

Heh, actually, funny you mention Dragonball. When we were first thinking of making SN Eddie's hair grow longer, one of us (probably me) quickly voiced some loose association with the super saiyans of 90s era Dragon Ball (even though we never intended on making his hair look that dumb).

I quite liked Dragonball and DBZ actually, just don't post 3 consecutive pages of Eddie screaming while trying to throw some sort of energy ball because nobody liked that about it..

Awesome I was hoping we'd get back to the alternate story line before the end of the issue.  Also tying in the other glove is going to be interesting.

I am so pumped for all the supernatural stuff that lies ahead.

She's in trouble if ghostface is coming back to life and she can't use magic because of that bet she made though.

Oh yeah, Ket's a total sex fiend. And yeah, her name is Ket now. It used to be Kit, but we recently discovered that there's another much more popular and well established webcomic that stars a chick that has a fox tail and ears named Kit. Since we've only said her name once so far, it seemed like a minor thing to swap out a vowel in her name (though it's going to be a pain in the ass for the two of us to get use to calling her something else, since we've known her as Kit for six or seven years now). That retcon will be put in place shortly.

Speaking of changes to Ket, if you compare her on this page to page 21, you can see that her design has gotten a slight change (the eyes and the hair). She's actually the character that has gone through the most iterations since we started this comic (yeah, even more than Psycho Sam). It's been hard for us to nail down the exact '80s anime look we're going for. We did some more research and we're finally happy with her latest look.

Also, (Aett's going to hate me for this) when Jessica first finished drawing Ket on this page, I actually thought her tits were too big, so Jessica toned them down a bit. It's a fine line to walk between a sexy huge bust and a ridiculous huge bust, and of course it's incredibly subjective.

Was it because she couldn't see that bowl of space noodles on her lap anymore..?
That's only a slight name change, I guess we'll learn to live with it eventually.

Issue 2 is one of the best so far..

Edit: shouldn't the title be "Evil Awakens"?

I could make an argument for keeping it as "Awakes", but you're right, "Awakens" is more fitting, so I changed it.

I'm slowly taking over this comic, can you tell?

This is one of those cartoons I wouldn't have watched ever..

Well, if that rad kid in the promo couldn't convince you, then I suppose it's a lost cause.

I was pretty black-and-white when it came to cartoons. As far as my 4-year old self was concerned, there were cartoons for boys and there were cartoons for girls. No overlap could possibly exist and this would look like a girls cartoon.

I'm slightly less sexist now, in that I acknowledge that women are allowed to like masculine stuff too..

And now finally we reveal Eddie is his full Satan Ninja form. The idea of his physical appearance changing when he's in his Satan Ninja form is something we considered for a long time, but didn't finally settle on doing until perhaps six months or so ago.

It might not be entirely obvious due to the page's lighting, but Eddie's hair turns black and gets a bit longer while at the same time becoming more of a feathered cut. His chops grow a bit, his eyebrows get slightly bushier, his eyes turn red, and he gets more buff.

This is all very clear I think, I noticed the hair at least. He definitely looks cool this way, he also stopped slouching I guess.

Love the upside-down cross on his shin guards as well, nice detail. I wonder how he's going to change back though, other wise he'll run out of regular clothes after a while and can only wear this..

I just watched the first episode of season one. The way Skeletor manages to lure the guards away from the palace is unbelievably smart. Oh man, that was really close! I just couldn't figure out why He-Man has an Iron Cross on his chest..

Seriously though, it's a good laugh..

Very cool stuff

Very cool stuff.  I always assumed it would activate in a tense situation like another altercation with Dean or something similar to that.  I like all the names and modifications you guys have taken on this journey.  Your willingness to share the creation process is awesome.  I like to think that someday when this comic is the biggest thing in the world that reporters will be coming to some of us "fans" for comments being those of us that have been here from the beginning will be Satan Ninja "experts".

Either that or we'll become like those Star Trek nerds: Completely detached from reality, discussing the physics of curious phenomena shown in the comic and taken seriously by nobody but other SN8Xies..
