Discuss Comic Pages / Issue 3 - Ninja Power! - Page 24 - Sucky Girl
« on: June 04, 2016, 06:32:43 AM »

Jessica ended up having a rough week, which is why this page took longer than expected to finish. It's actually not completely finished yet, as Jessica still wants to add more detail to Alex's room, but we thought it'd be better to post it now and then update it later, rather than keep you waiting any longer. It's updated. Jessica will probably add another poster at some point, but it's good for now.

The April bonus comic on Jessica's Patreon takes place between this page and the previous one. You could sort of think of it as a deleted scene. It's canon, but it's not necessary to the plot.

Man, those rhymes, can't top that. Most strangely ridgedly choreographed rap-off of all time too.

The part that gets me every time is the very end where the hat girl walks back to her bike, then turns around and says a final, "Top That." So fucking cringy. I love it.

This sounds pretty awful but I'm sure I'd watch it on a cold day if I was sick or hung over.

Oh, it's totally watchable. Terrible, but very watchable.

Where were you at on this side of the Mitten?  Hope you guys enjoyed getting away from the comic for a minute and relaxing.

We were over near Brighton. We didn't do anything too interesting. I made Jessica feel awkward as I talked to her family about religion. We made some smores around a fire (are smores a thing in Europe, Rijst?). Oh, and I cringed as I watched a little kid play classic Sonic and Mario games without ever running, and thus he died repeatedly.

After what you said,I hope you all remember Janet Jackson and the Superbowl?

Oh man, I could only dream of generating that much publicity for the comic.

Jessica's family is having a gathering over on the other side of our state, so tomorrow we'll be heading that way. Jessica was hoping to have the newest page done before we leave, but it's looking like it'll either end up being late or she'll put up a not-quite finished version and then update it later.

Haha when I intially read your comment Rijst about the recruiting I thought of TMNT but for some reason did not think to post anything about it.  Glad you come through on that Adam.  and why haven't you guy's seen this in such a long time. I own the DVD 4 pack with the 3 originals and the animated one that came out in '08 or sometime around then.

Because it came out in 1990, and Jessica and I are still making out way through 1985 on our epic quest to view all note-worthy (as determined by us) movies in roughly chronological order. We're getting reeeeeaaaaly close to being done with '85, so we're over the half-way point of the '80s.

I didn't see the third TMNT movie until about eight years ago. It was every bit as bad as I had heard.

The least I could do was try and make the shoot as fun as possible for everyone, in spite of all the mishaps.

I guess vodka for everyone wouldn't have been the answer though  8)

Nope, Jessica hogged that all to herself. I did give offerings of blueberry muffins, vanilla cookies, and pizza, though.

Great photos! I guess underbooby promotional videos would send a different message than you intend to about the comic.

You sure about that? It's not like our comic is lacking in boobyness. Hell, our one and only (so far) harsh public critic was greatly annoyed at the comic's level of boobage.

Jessica and I are in the same boat as Rijst, so we almost never go to the movies. Plus, for the past few years, we've been focusing on watching '80s movies, so we've fallen waaaaaay behind on current cinema.

However, some of the only current movies we've seen in the past five years or so have been the ones in the Marvel cinematic universe. But we've yet to see the second Avengers movie and everything that's come out since then. I'd really like to, as Spider-Man was my favorite childhood superhero, so I'm excited to see Marvel's take on him in Civil War.

So that's my long-winded way of saying that I haven't seen either movie.

So did you guy's watch the 1st episode yet?  I'm pretty happy with it so far.  It's different from the comic yet it's not so far off that it's unbearable.  I've watched and read some Q&A with the actors/actresses also and that helps sell why they got the part especially Ruth Negga as Tulip.  There is also an interview with Garth Ennis about his involvement with the show.

If you guy's haven't seen it here's a link you can watch for free at AMC's website.

Rijst hopefully you and the other SN198X fans from outside the US can find it if you choose to.

I just watched it. It's good. I could see it catching on and being a hit show. As an adaptation of the comics, well, I'd prefer something more faithful (have it set in the 90s, and hit every core plot point from the comics), but that probably wouldn't make for as successful of a show as the direction they seem to be going with it. And despite the changes, the show still seems to have the spirit of the Preacher comics. Same satirical humor, and bouts of violence. It's still too early for me to say how well they nailed the spirit of the characters, but it's a promising start. It's also interesting that they're focusing a lot more on Jessie being an actual Preacher. In the books, we never get to see that, aside from a brief flashback or two.

I'll probably give it a year or two and then watch the series at some point. I'm definitely interested.

It's cool you got to hang out with Debbie Harry.

Almost as cool as your joining the forum.

I think Jess should do a blog on the photo shoot and making the video's just so we can get an interesting perspective from her compared to your more responsible we have to get everything done perspective.  Or maybe a vlog so she don't have to stop drawing and we get new pages on time lol.

Ah, but how interesting could her perspective be when she doesn't even remember half the shoot? However, we actually do plan to record some podcast/video blog stuff soon, so we'll see.

BTW the never ending saga of  Satanninja.com being blocked and unblocked at work is still ongoing so I've been reading the pages and blogs on my phone but have really not wanted the hassle of commenting with it.  As of today you're back up here at work so I'm back just in time for some NSFW but yet I work by myself photo's of Jess.

Hah, that's weird. We'll see how long it remains unblocked, with all the ninja turtle porn and underbooby shenanigans going on here.
