She probably thought to herself "he's going to be so disappointed, Spice Channel is much better when you need to use your imagination"..

Totally. It was her plan all along to teach me a valuable life lesson.

Eventually, when I was about fifteen or sixteen, I talked my mom into letting me purchase the Spice Channel for the night[...]

Gah, what a weird topic to bring up with your mom.

Yeah, I know it seems weird. My mom was pretty atypical when it came to things related to sex. I know most parents, at least in the US, dread having the "birds and the bees" conversation with their kids (and some never even bother), but my mom seemed genuinely excited about it. When I was about four, she asked me if I knew about sex, and she acted disappointed when I told her that I already did (I had "naughty" neighbor kids that had already filled me in, plus I watched a lot R-rated movies on HBO). She also once bought one of my friends (who was maybe thirteen or fourteen at the time) an issue of Playboy in exchange for him mowing our lawn.

So anyway, when she was leaving me home alone for a weekend, it didn't feel totally strange to ask her if I could order the Spice Channel for a night.

I guess this would be called manstruation then?

Yes. Gross.

Why not use your imagination rather than that scrambled shit? I mean, I know unexpected boobs can be exciting but this must've taken longer than absolutely necessary..

Oh, I got a lot of mileage out of my imagination, I assure you. But never underestimate the lengths teenage Adam would go to in order to see boobs. I sat through countless awful films on cable premium channels because the content card before the movie showed that it contained "Nudity".

But anyway, I did have to use my imagination while watching scrambled porn. Like I mentioned before, you could hear the audio just fine, but you couldn't really tell what was going on, so my imagination would fill in the blanks.

Eventually, when I was about fifteen or sixteen, I talked my mom into letting me purchase the Spice Channel for the night (in the US, Spice was the main porn premium channel). I was super pumped, but after watching countless hours of scrambled Spice, seeing the real thing ended up being a total let down. The girls weren't nearly as hot as I made them in my imagination, and to top it off, Spice didn't even show hardcore action.

The movies Spice played were genuine hardcore pornos, so the "actors" were actually going at it, but the Spice version of the movies would only use camera angles that prevented you from seeing any sort of penetration. So, for instance, if a chick was giving a dude head, it'd show a view of her head bobbing from behind, or a reaction shot of the dude's face, or it'd show a closeup of the chick's face, but framed from about the nose up, so you couldn't actually see what her mouth was doing. Totally bogus.

Man, that night was such a letdown.

Haha at least we had that,  now these lucky kids get the whole damn internet with broadband cable connection.  They don't know how good they have it lol.

No kidding. But it's probably for the best. If I had access to highspeed Internet and sites like Pornhub when I was fourteen, I probably would have jacked off until my dick was a bloody pulp.

Well I'm starting to get used to Jess blogging now. I like it.

Don't get too used to it. Unfortunately, Jessica's a super slowpoke when it comes to writing, and of course that's time she could be spending on art. Now that my work schedule seems to have slowed down, I'll be resuming blogging duties.

Good stuff, I was listening to the podcast at work and it was very good. Quite funny that Dick didn't know about Maddox's drawing haha, brilliant email conversation!

You know, there can't be too many shows which are happy to receive, praise, and display fan art of the hosts shooting cum and getting brutalized. Awesome. And I think that might be the first time Jessica's drawn detailed, full-color cocks. What a watershed moment!

Speaking of first-time jerk off fantasies, if she were to illustrate mine, it'd be psychedelic as fuck. I first jerked it too scrambled porn. It was either the Spice Channel, or some pseudo-porn on Cinemax.

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, back in the '90s, premium channels would be "scrambled" on your TV unless you paid for them. Here's an example of what a scrambled channel was like. You could hear the channel perfectly fine, and you could usually kind of make out what was happening on screen, but the image would be all warped with fucked up colors. So you'd occasionally be able to spot a bouncing green tit or whatever. And every once in a great while the stars would align, and you'd actually get a totally clear image for a glorious second or two of jerk-off bliss.

I hope you gave it a wash in between events though..

We actually even hand-washed it in the hotel sink on the evenings of convention days. Not that it needed it, as I've never once detected body odor on Jessica in the eight or so years we've been together. I think she's an android. That might explain how she's got such a bitchin' bod despite eating pizza every day and never working out.

Have you guy's thought about using more social media to draw people to your table?  I'm thinking at a larger con such as Chicago doing something like a live tweet or Instagram using lots of hashtags may draw people over to your booth or to the website.

Oh man, I barely know what I'm doing on Twitter as it is. I should try to remedy that eventually. Ugh.

I think it's awesome you guy's sold out the comic.

Fortunately, we didn't sell out until the final day of the convention, so that worked out well.

I have always wondered how a small artist would do in such a setting.  I would imagine many of the people there would only have so much to spend and already have an idea of what they wanted from some of the bigger artist or dealers, not leaving so much to spend on new stuff they find though they may still visit the website if interested.

Yeah, the dealers (who sell mass-produced goods) definitely get most of the attention from con-goers, but luckily there are a lot of people who still make a point to check out artists alley, and there are even some who are rad enough to try and seek out new and original stuff instead of just fanart. Those people rule.

I remember your tales of the other convention all too well, did you get a proper place to sleep this time?

Too proper. By the time we booked the hotel, the only one I was able to get near the convention cost us over a hundred bucks a night. It was like paradise compared to the  super cheapo death motel we stayed at for Midoricon, but if wasn't for how expensive the hotel was, we would have easily made profit at this convention.

Really good to see that this was a success. If these cons start paying for themselves at some point I guess you'll be doing a lot more of them next year?

I think so. We enjoy doing them (so far), and if they start to pay for themselves, then tabling at them is basically advertising our comic to masses of people for free. Can't beat that.

I tried so hard not to call it that you know?

Haha! Hey, I showed some restraint. I was really tempted to make a joke about how familiar Jessica is with that perspective.

Hahaha! I loved it! Nobody in this video acts normally. Where does The Rock keep getting his beers from? It's brilliant!

The Rock? You mean The Duke!

And beers? Those weren't beers I was drinking, Science Dude. Afterall, who needs beers when you can drink... root beer!

Bit of trivia about the root beers. During that shot of us all ascending into the attic, it wasn't planned for me to find and sip a root beer. But while we were filming that part, I climbed up the ladder and noticed that I had left a can up there from earlier when we were scouting the house for locations to shoot scenes in, so I snatched it and took a sip. Because I'm a comic improv genius.

Also, in the scene where I pull a can of root beer out of my underwear, I didn't tell anyone I was going to do that ahead of time, so they had no idea what I was about to do during that scene.

This video also reinforces my impression that tying a necktie around your head isn't very helpful in the Adam Dravian universe..

But hey, at least you get to hear a sweet guitar riff.

Is this a forum title to replace "Rad Ninja"?

Yeah. Eventually.

Quote
You can't retcon you blog posts man, we'll all look super lame not commenting on the rad gifs so we'll have to edit all of our replies as well.

All part of our plan to make you guys seem lame. That way, once we come off hiatus and begin promoting this thing again, our legions of new fans will be less likely to be turned off from commenting due to being intimidated by how ultra-rad you guys are.

I think it's because his shoulders look broader and his belt appears to sit higher up the waist. His hair seems to be more voluminous and finally most people are used to viewing rock stars from this angle (when they're on stage or in videos) so maybe the perspective is the biggest cause here.

Good observations.

Okay, take note, Jessica. From now on, we should try to make all Satan Ninja Eddie panels be from dick-level perspective.

I really really hope this gamble pays off for you two. It would be so cool to just be able to do this for a living! Also makes a film adaptation more likely. Until then though, we'll have to be satisfied with the products of your younger days..

Thanks! We'll never know unless we try, and since we're in a position to give it a shot, we're going for it.

And since you brought up videos from my younger days, now I have an excuse to post one of my favorites (featuring a mask that has made a cameo in our comic): Count Orlox Gets Head
