It drives me crazy, I know I played some Ninja beat'em-up with the Ninja Gaiden Game Over screen, but it's a giant spike being lowered into the character's chest. I had played it at some rest stop - apparently Fatal Fury 3 has one similar, but it didn't look familiar when I watched it.

Maybe it's the one from Final Fight 3. You can see an animated gif of it (and several other continue screens) in this Kotaku article: http://kotaku.com/the-most-amazing-video-game-continue-screens-472642965

The Halloween pics made me think of this: will you and Jessica be characters from 198X this Halloween? Seems like that should totally happen.

Heh. I'm sure it'll happen eventually. Maybe not this year.

I know that when we do convention appearances, Jessica has talked about getting dressed up in '80s exercise wear. I'm sure she'll look both hot and completely stupid. Just the way I like 'em.  ;)

Like the guy who gets shot in this scene? (Peter Jackson)

Heh, I wonder how hard it was for Jackson to cut his own cameo from the theatrical version of Return of the King. But yeah, don't be totally shocked if I put some kind of self-insert cameo into the comic at some point.

At the very least, there should be a mock character select screen or something like the opening pages of the comic with the arcade game.

Oh, yeah. I'd love to see Jessica do some more pixel art, but I'm sure it's a pain in the ass. However, there's bound to be more in the comic at some point.

So far? As much as I hate to admit it, Veronica. I don't normally go for that type, but she's clearly designed to look outrageously attractive, and she's had the most nudity so far. Plus, we've mostly only seen her in fantasies so far. Once we get to know her in "real life" (and when she's not actively crying), that typical Head Cheerleader attitude will lose her a lot of points. (But we'll see...!)

Yeah, I have a pretty strong feeling that Veronica will be bumped out of your top babe slot as the comic goes along. It'll probably become a bit of a revolving door. Like I said before, she'll have a lot of competition.

For question 2, along those lines, it'll have to be the first page of issue 2 since Fantasy-Veronica is being seductive.

Heh. Jessica was going for a kind of porno-Barbie doll look in that panel, and I think she nailed it.

I look forward to seeing all these other babes and having more competition for most babe-alicous panel!

You and me both, buddy.

I've been waiting for Alex to become more 80's stylish than 80's nerd.

You don't think Alex is stylish? Come on, just check out that vest and tie. Like aett said, she's looking adorable.

Hah, babes are something I can totally get into (har-har). Actually, as the comic goes on, we're going to end up with quite the cast of babes. Probably enough to fill up the roster in our own Dead or Alive-esque fighting game spin-off. That would rule.

As for a more '80s name than "Aett's Babe Alert." Hmm ... I suppose "Aett's Babewatch" could work. Or maybe not. Even though Baywatch technically started in the late '80s, it's way more associated with the '90s. Kind of like The Simpsons or 90210.

As for what the future holds for Alex ... Well, I can tell you that you'll be seeing a different side of her in just a couple weeks. I'm glad you find her adorable. Way early on, after seeing one of the arcade pages, Ghoul (our web lord) told us he thought Alex looked like Peggy Hill. That actually inspired us to change her hair from brown to black. It's weird how I can look back at those early arcade pages and already see an evolution in Jessica's style compared to now. Eddie looks like he's maybe 12 years old in some panels on the "Pizza Wizard" page in particular.

As for Veronica and Heather, well, I'll just say that the Ice Cream driver is really enjoying his job at the moment.

And now some babe questions:

Favorite babe so far?
Most babe-alicous panel so far?

And the exposition continues. This is one of those pages that works just fine within the context of the issue, but isn't so stellar when it stands alone as the weekly update since there isn't any kind of action, joke, or crazy thing occurring.

Next week'll pick things up again.

I'm a little freaked out by her face when she poses with her hands in the air though (0:30 and again later)..

Ha, yeah, such a crazy-stare. She should have a crazy-eyed stare-off with Mad Max Lite.

It's amusing that there is a hit cover of this song from 1987 that is incredibly 80's in an entirely different way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnejLmQGYhg

Yeah, I've got that version on our "Ultimate '80s Playlist" as well. Musically, it's way more up my alley, but that music video has a distinct lack of neon pink, blue, and bouncing tits.

Sure, slang it up. Since we decided that the Bounty Hunter will speak with a British accent (hence the "bloody"), Jessica and I were recently discussing looking up British slang that was used in the '80s. Can't have anachronisms. I'll look into that book. Thanks.

We recently finished watching the first series of Red Dwarf. It's odd in that much of its humor misses the mark for us (too much predictable '80s sitcom humor) but yet the show has a distinct charm that makes us want to keep watching it. Also, I'm sure the show will getter better. After all, it took The Simpsons a few seasons to actually get good (I loved the early seasons when I was a kid, but man are they hard to sit through now).

After thinking it over I decided that if I don't give myself a set day, then the week will end up creeping past me without me posting anything. So from now on Wednesday will be blog/review/feature/whatever update day.

Ah, good ol' Maddox. Jessica did some minor art stuff for him a couple years ago and he asked her to show him the comic when it was ready. That was very cool of him to tweet it like he did.

806
I have a big long detailed synopsis of the whole plot (and a bunch of ideas for a sequel, if we decide to continue it after this original story arc is complete in four years or so). However, it's not set in stone. So every once in awhile, if Jessica or I come up with a new idea or a change that we think makes the comic better, then we'll implement it. Then we read-through the synopsis with the change in mind and figure out all the trickle-down effects. So the story is mostly set, but it's malleable. The core components of the story has remained pretty static, however.

807
Now you made me go and look up "dodgy." We've started watching Red Dwarf recently, so maybe that'll help us get more familiar with British slang.

But no, not quite a porn, but I'm sure it toes the line at times. But that'd be interesting if it really was a porn and Eddie was excited to sit down and watch it with Joe and Alex. I suppose that would say quite a bit about their friendship.

Aw, man, that's an awesome complement. Thanks! I can honestly say you're my favorite European that's not a celebrity.

How did you discover our comic, anyway?

809

Yeah, so I'm trying to make these page names more descriptive than creative. When I look through the archive I'd like it to be as easy as possible to find the page I'm looking for.

Anyway, the VHS Joe gifts to Eddie was originally going to be Creepy House Party, which would have been a reference to a no-budget short horror movie I made with my freinds back in 2000 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCcaHruMXu0). But we figured a movie with a sci-fi bent would be more suitable for Joe to give Eddie. Also it kind of ties in nicely with the fact that we just had a couple pages of sci-fi outer-space action.

Man, and here I sit, writing a dumb-ass comic...

But seriously, that's awesome and the picture is much appreciated.
