So for the first time today I read the comic as a whole. I had already of course read issue one a couple of times but it's been a while.
All the points that I had seemed slow to me reading week to week went by very fast and flowed well. I had especially thought the whole lunch and walk home stuff took forever going week to week, but now as a whole I did not get that feeling.
Being I'm not a "comic" guy and having really only read one other (Preacher). I sometimes have a hard time focusing on all the details of the art. So during my read through today I went very slow and tried to focus on every panel. I defiantly saw much more than I had before. Jess you're an amazing artist, I totally look forward to seeing this project through to the end.

I actually haven't gone back and read everything since we wrapped issue 2. But then again, I'm so intimately familiar with it all, that it's hard for me to read it with a fresh perspective. But I think it's important that I do so and try to judge it as a whole.
For instance, I know we have a ton of our Narrator Dude in issue 1, and then he's barely in issue 2 at all. Did that seem odd to you while reading it? Since issue 1 was introducing the world and most of the main cast, it felt more necessary to have the Narrator Dude. I also thought his slang helped get the reader in an '80s mindset. But I feel like if we used the Narrator Dude too much, he could get annoying. So in issue 2, he was just reserved for moments when we might need some added clarity. Like to inform the reader that this crazy sci-fi shit that's busting out of nowhere isn't a dream.
I've talked before about how it's a necessary evil to put out only one page a week, but there are two things I prefer about updating the comic that way.
First, it almost forces the reader to slow down a bit and soak in the details. I know when I read a comic the "traditional" way, I tend to plow through it without spending as much time as I should soaking up the art details, which is a bummer for the artist who spent forever on it.
Second, it encourages discussion on individual pages, as opposed to merely talking about the issue as a whole. And as creators, we're always greedy for feedback.
...Well, I mean, I guess there could be blind people out there having the comic read to them... And I know that we do have some fans who are color blind...

Either that or we'll become like those Star Trek nerds: Completely detached from reality, discussing the physics of curious phenomena shown in the comic and taken seriously by nobody but other SN8Xies..
I love this page. I was wondering how the glove would activate, and this scenario is not one I had thought of. Keep us readers on our toes.
Here's a bit of trivia for you. For a long time, back when this comic was called "Shinobi Fist: Legend of the Badass Ninja" we were going to have the glove activate when Eddie says "Shinobi." So during this scene, after he wakes up, Sam would have said something along the lines of, "Hey, that's a rad glove. It kinda makes you look like Dude Shinobi." And Eddie would have responded with, "I don't look like Dude Shinobi." But of course, upon saying "Shinobi" he would undergo the transformation into a magical ninja (without the satanic element, since we hadn't decided on that yet). Then Sam would have exclaimed, "See?! You totally look like Dude Shinobi!" Har-har. We would have also made it so that for awhile he thinks the activation word is "Dude Shinobi." It would have taken him awhile to figure out that it was just "Shinobi."
Once we decided to change Eddie from a "normal" ninja into an infernal ninja, that's when we decided to re-think how the glove gets activated, and we came up with this.
Another bit of trivia. When we decided to add the satanic element to Eddie's glove, we briefly considered calling the comic something like "Demon Fist: Legend of the Badass Ninja" but we discovered that there's already a comic called Demon Fist, so there went that idea.
I guess if you're really worried about the timing of certain bits you can always move them around a bit before you move to a final printed version.
True. This whole comic could be thought of as a work-in-progress up until we released the final print version. Although we're going to try to avoid retcons, if we think of a change that's in the best interest of the comic, and wouldn't require too much effort, then we'll do it. Hopefully we'll show a bit more restraint with this than George Lucas.
