I hope you had a good Christmas guys! Not like us packing our life into boxes for the move tomorrow..  8)

Our Christmas was ... okay. Sort of stressful. Jessica frantically tried to finish some portraits as presents for some of her family, but didn't get as far along as she had hoped before Christmas day. And as always there's Satan Ninja stuff we're trying to get done. And also setting up for some of the Patreon rewards, like live streaming.

Anyway, what's the reason for your move? Is it a big move, or just somewhere else within the same general area?

Our landlord gave us notice to leave the flat so we had to find something new. The place we ended up in is way way better than what we had though. They wanted us to move in as soon as possible so we're all settled now. We figured using the Christmas holidays for it would be best since we'd taken the time off already.

But we only just had internet connected today so I'm catching up with loads of stuff now..

Ginger mullet is so rad.  8)

The raddest. I've realized that this comic has a criminal lack of mullets. Corey can't be the only one. Trance's is on the verge. If this were real life, I'm sure the hair I give Trance would look super mullety.

You can always re-do a few pages to give satan-ninja a mullet, or Mordlich..  8)

I have never, unfortunately, owned a NES so I'm not familiar with that game.

Awe, man, no NES? That's depressing. What'd you do as a kid? Play outside with friends like a bunch of nature-worshiping primitives? Like some kind of druids?

Bomberman is a pretty popular franchise, especially in Japan where there are possibly one million Bomberman games. It's about a super cutesy robot who fucks everything up with his endless supply of bombs. The US version of the first game tried to make it more appealing to western sensibilities by making him look all cool on the box art (the one I posted previously), but this is what Bomberman actually looks like:

I played with my huge supply of legos obviously. I did get out now and then but I didn't worship nature as much as trying to set fire to bits of it.  8)

So it's obvious that ol' Mordy is re-forming, right? Because he totally is. And he's totally pissed. I like how unscathed his head/upper body is from that massive explosion though. That's one hell of a helmet.

Yes this is very clear, and it stands to reason he's not amused. How is he ever going to get to earth now? He could just have a massive headache from that explosion though, it's always hard to tell with undead space lords..

That shot of Ket in the bounty hunter suit with the helmet off is similar to what you'd see if you managed to beat her NES bounty hunting game in under four hours. Beat it in under two and she'll be in her space-leotard. Beat it in under ten minutes and she'll jump out of the screen and rub her space-tits in your face. At least that's what I heard on the playground from Jason. But Jason's been known to make up bullshit before, so who really knows.

My mum told me not to listen to Jason, nobody can finish that game in under ten minutes anyway so what does he know?

EDIT:

I forgot to mention that Ket using all these explosives while wearing her bounty hunting garb reminds me of the box cover for the first NES Bomberman game. It's easily the coolest Bomberman has ever looked.

I have never, unfortunately, owned a NES so I'm not familiar with that game.

Haha this page cracked me up. Vektor mode? That is brilliantly done!

Anything goes when it comes to space grenades in my opinion. Now the real question is, does the good old sticking-a-grenade-and-opening-the-airlock trick work?

I need to check out that patreon page. Is that like bandcamp but for non-musicians?

No detail is too small is it?

Unlike Jessica, I wasn't too concerned about Connor's name. After all, we could just say that his parents moved to the US from Ireland shortly after Connor was born. Problem solved. But I'm also fine with Connor being his surname. Now I just need to come up with a reason that his friends often call him by his last name instead of Kyle.

I love how Eddie is suddenly hot on poses, he can't even throw a star sideways without striking one (and nearly killing that poor animal).

He's Kyle Connor II, so he goes by his last name because "[his] dad's Kyle".

Wouldn't that make him Kyle Connor Jr.?

As I was delivering the "Do you know where Connor's party is?" line in the I Got Somethin' I Wanna Show Ya promo video, something about the way it sounded felt overwhelmingly modern to me. The feeling kept nagging me and I started wondering if the name Connor got way more popular after the 80s or something. I thought of Connor MacLeod from Highlander, whose name might have served to evoke a place and time far away from 1980s America, and Sarah Connor from The Terminator, but that one is obviously a surname, so it doesn't count.

So I turned to Google which directed me to The Baby Name Wizard, which sounds like the lamest wizard of all time. This wizard told me, through its "Baby Name Voyager" (I guess this site really wants to get the fantasy crowd pumped about baby names), that zero babies born in the U.S. were named Connor until the 80s, making it impossible for any American teen to have that name in the 80s. The name jumped in rank from 0 to 494 in the 80s, climbed to 67 in the 90s, and has hovered in the 50s ever since, peaking at 49 in 2010. What a modern-ass name. The Wikipedia article for the given name Connor confirmed this. Not a single Connor of note born before the 80s. So we decided to make our Connor go by his last name. Fuck Connor. He's Kyle Connor now.

I hope you're both well now, was it over eating?

Why did you fancy getting a pig? I'd never even heard of them as pets until a few years ago..

Did he just summon the sword like that? I love how it has a bone-like pommel.

If I saw a neighbour with a sword saying they were playing with their pet I'd be worried.

Yeah I can totally see how that works out..  8)

Ket is suddenly very.. submissive. Does she have a thing with corpses who blast doors through space ships or is this a trick to surprise him with a roundhouse kick in the face?  8)

I'll just say that Mordlich is way too undead for her tastes.

I can't help but agree, too much of a good thing just puts me off..

Moving on though, I like the way the stars look. I also think the way Ket is drawn (light shading, the way the seats look comfy-yet-solid, etc.) reminds me a bit of the 80s X-men comics I used to have somewhere. Maybe that's also because Vektoria looks a bit like Storm (I must've said this before). Is that on purpose?

Now that you point it out, the seats totally do look comfy-yet-solid. Weird. And yeah, I could see the Storm comparison: dark skin, no iris/pupils, funky getup. But she actually wasn't inspired by any of the X-men. She was inspired mostly by Synergy from the Jem cartoon and the "programs" from Tron.

I totally missed out on those. It means it was a more pervasive style in the 80s though.
