Aww, dude. That's a bummer.

I just found out that starting tomorrow I'm going to be working 12-hour shifts every day for the next couple weeks. So I might not get a chance to write an article for the site for awhile.

So the silver lining is that at least you won't be missing much for the time being.

Was it because she couldn't see that bowl of space noodles on her lap anymore..? ;)

That should have been one of my methods of weeding out the babes I was talking to back on my mid-90s days of being a cyber stud on AOL. Since almost no one had pictures of themselves back then, I had to rely on physical descriptions, and of course most girls aren't upfront with bust size, despite it being of paramount importance. So I could have simply asked, "If you're eating a bowl of space noodles that's sitting in your lap, would you have any trouble seeing it?" If they say something like, "Uh, no, of course not. Why would I?" Then I know it's time to move on.

If only I could get a time machine.

I'm slowly taking over this comic, can you tell?

Right. Someday I'll come to this site and find Eddie up in the header image is now wearing a lab coat, a goatee, and non-sun glasses.

Satanlich looks like he is frozen in some kind of.. extraplanar data center. I picture servers running inside those block boxes. Maybe he is frozen because this data center has its air conditioning system turned way up.

Hehheh. Those are space crates in the storage chamber, but yeah, I can totally see what you mean.

Sweet, I'm loving this outer space anime-inspired bounty hunting crazy demon shinobi classic movie referencing craziness! Super anxious to see this interact with the main story.

I'm glad to see you've come around on your opinion of the space bounty hunters. Hmm, I wonder what could have changed your mind...

Also, (Aett's going to hate me for this) when Jessica first finished drawing Ket on this page, I actually thought her tits were too big, so Jessica toned them down a bit. It's a fine line to walk between a sexy huge bust and a ridiculous huge bust, and of course it's incredibly subjective.

Oh man, that gave me a good laugh. Soo good.

Well done! Amazing art and story! Can't wait to binge read both issues over and over during the wait for issue 3's debut.

Thanks a ton. That means a lot coming from someone with the ingenious name: Mumm-Rad. (Not sarcasm)

This isn't the main story?

Hmmm... I'm actually stumped as to whether you're being serious or not. Good job.

A welcome respite to the sausage fest you mean haha! "t--" means jugglers? Fun bags? Mammaries?

Jugglers? I know of jugs, of course (boy, do I!) but jugglers is a new one on me. Typo, or more of your crazy Euro-slang?

The self-portrait is clearly meant to inspire you to not fuck things up over the next eight years.

Heheh. Noted.

It's like a mailing list really, except that it saves you the trouble of sending emails around to a mailing list. Well, in theory anyway..

Ah, sounds nice. I'll have to look into it some more. It's just weird to me that when I click on our RSS icon, all I see is code gibberish, but our weblord assures us that is somehow normal.

So for the first time today I read the comic as a whole.  I had already of course read issue one a couple of times but it's been a while.

All the points that I had seemed slow to me reading week to week went by very fast and flowed well.  I had especially thought the whole lunch and walk home stuff took forever going week to week, but now as a whole I did not get that feeling.

Being I'm not a "comic" guy and having really only read one other (Preacher).  I sometimes have a hard time focusing on all the details of the art.  So during my read through today I went very slow and tried to focus on every panel.  I defiantly saw much more than I had before.  Jess you're an amazing artist, I totally look forward to seeing this project through to the end.

Awesome post, dude. I really appreciate it.

I actually haven't gone back and read everything since we wrapped issue 2. But then again, I'm so intimately familiar with it all, that it's hard for me to read it with a fresh perspective. But I think it's important that I do so and try to judge it as a whole.

For instance, I know we have a ton of our Narrator Dude in issue 1, and then he's barely in issue 2 at all. Did that seem odd to you while reading it? Since issue 1 was introducing the world and most of the main cast, it felt more necessary to have the Narrator Dude. I also thought his slang helped get the reader in an '80s mindset. But I feel like if we used the Narrator Dude too much, he could get annoying. So in issue 2, he was just reserved for moments when we might need some added clarity. Like to inform the reader that this crazy sci-fi shit that's busting out of nowhere isn't a dream.

I've talked before about how it's a necessary evil to put out only one page a week, but there are two things I prefer about updating the comic that way.

First, it almost forces the reader to slow down a bit and soak in the details. I know when I read a comic the "traditional" way, I tend to plow through it without spending as much time as I should soaking up the art details, which is a bummer for the artist who spent forever on it.

Second, it encourages discussion on individual pages, as opposed to merely talking about the issue as a whole. And as creators, we're always greedy for feedback.

I quite liked Dragonball and DBZ actually, just don't post 3 consecutive pages of Eddie screaming while trying to throw some sort of energy ball because nobody liked that about it..

I may have said this at some point on the site before, but I'm a big fan of fights that are quick and brutal. Long, drawn-out battles tend to lose their impact and I start to get bored. I'm speaking in general, as I do think that long fights can be pulled off successfully, if they're done well.

But yeah, there certainly won't be DBZ-esque twenty-page battles in our comic.

And there also won't be a martial arts tournament story-arc.

I hope when you guy's finally come back that hard copies are available for purchase along with other merchandise (at least a T-spring offering).

We'll be having more hardcopies printed as soon as Jessica's done sprucing up the first two issues. T-shirts are something we'll certainly look into. Posters too.

Well hopefully Jess can not only catch up with the detail work but maybe also get 2 or 3 pages ahead to make life easier on you guys when you get busy.

Oh yeah. We definitely plan to get a bit ahead before we launch issue 3 on the site.

Issue 2 was a great journey.  Buying issue one and blazing through it was fun.  Waiting week to week with issue two was a totally different experience. I find myself looking forward to Saturday to read the new page.

Glad to hear it, dude. I know it can be a bummer reading the issue one page a week, but I think it's better than the alternative, which is us going silent for a half-year or whatever and then releasing it all at once. Getting feeback from week to week also helps Jessica keep up her morale.

Oh man she turns out to be a total nympho.

She's in trouble if ghostface is coming back to life and she can't use magic because of that bet she made though. Excellent cliff hanger!

Oh yeah, Ket's a total sex fiend. And yeah, her name is Ket now. It used to be Kit, but we recently discovered that there's another much more popular and well established webcomic that stars a chick that has a fox tail and ears named Kit. Since we've only said her name once so far, it seemed like a minor thing to swap out a vowel in her name (though it's going to be a pain in the ass for the two of us to get use to calling her something else, since we've known her as Kit for six or seven years now). That retcon will be put in place shortly.

Speaking of changes to Ket, if you compare her on this page to page 21, you can see that her design has gotten a slight change (the eyes and the hair). She's actually the character that has gone through the most iterations since we started this comic (yeah, even more than Psycho Sam). It's been hard for us to nail down the exact '80s anime look we're going for. We did some more research and we're finally happy with her latest look.

Issue 2 is one of the best so far..  8)

Oh, you.

Edit: shouldn't the title be "Evil Awakens"?

I could make an argument for keeping it as "Awakes", but you're right, "Awakens" is more fitting, so I changed it.

And finally, issue 2 is a wrap! Well, mostly. Jessica is now going to go through and spruce up the pages that were rushed out. Mostly adding in background elements.

We're going to go on a break before we launch issue 3. Actually, it's not really going to be a break at all, at least for us. I'll go more into detail about this with this week's blog post.

This is one of those cartoons I wouldn't have watched ever..

Well, if that rad kid in the promo couldn't convince you, then I suppose it's a lost cause.

And now finally we reveal Eddie is his full Satan Ninja form. The idea of his physical appearance changing when he's in his Satan Ninja form is something we considered for a long time, but didn't finally settle on doing until perhaps six months or so ago.

It might not be entirely obvious due to the page's lighting, but Eddie's hair turns black and gets a bit longer while at the same time becoming more of a feathered cut. His chops grow a bit, his eyebrows get slightly bushier, his eyes turn red, and he gets more buff.

552
I'm glad the characters aren't spending too much time trying to work out what the hell is going on and just trying to take care of it as soon as they can. It can be hard to tell when you read one page a week, but the comic has really good pacing. I know that if I were to buy a single completed issue, I would be very satisfied with the sheer amount of content and quality.

That's really great to hear. Er, read. Thanks!

Babe Alert: what is happening

i feel weak

so very weak

Jessica plans to make a few babe posters for Eddie's room. As soon as we put out the final page for issue 2 next week, getting all of Eddie's revamped posters in place will be a top priority. So eventually these pages will get a healthy dose of boobage, no worries.

553
Babe Alert: Um, I can kinda see Minxy on the album cover?

Jessica intends to revisit that album cover so she can finalize it. Once she's done, we'll post a big version of it in all its glory. It'll be worth the wait.

I hope there's a closeup of the Game Boy screen, because if that's an original mockup of a fake game, that is a DAMN good job.

It is an original mock-up, but she made it to be viewed at that size. So if you were to see it zoomed in, it'd mostly be incomprehensible blobs.
