Jessica told me she intends to respond to this, someday. But yeah, Rijst is right. She settled for classical. Which, is actually what she said in her story. Come on guys, work on that reading comprehension. ;)

Haha, it's nice to see we have so many options for continuing the series into future decades.

You'd have to write that into the story though. Like a frame where the police find the dead ninja and one cop asks "Why do his eyes look that way?" and then another replies with "That's what your eyes look like after you've gazed into Hell. Haven't you seen The Beyond?". The first cop then says "No, I haven't.". You could even make him look like me, since I too haven't seen The Beyond..

Except all movies/video games/bands and such in the 198X-verse have to have a parody name that is usually another way to say the same thing (e.g. New Kids on the Block becomes Fresh Teens on the Street), or the parody name references the content of the original (e.g. Caddyshack becomes Gopher Golf). So The Beyond would become something like The Afterlife (if I were feeling lazy) or perhaps Hellgate Hotel.

That's true, but isn't that mostly to save money on the special effects budget?

I believe the tradition began in books and folktales well before film came along, so I don't think that's the only reason. Besides, it allows you to have the big dramatic reveal where the girl discovers that the evil werewolf that she just killed was actually her boyfriend/teacher/grandpa/mail man. Or, if the story wants to be even more shocking, the beast will turn out to be a woman. Oooooo...

Those are amazing... in such different ways.

Thank you. I'll never look at Steve Perry the same way again.

I guess we could do Satan Ninja Twenty-Ex-Teen in thirty years. Maybe we'll catch up with this decade's pop culture by then and be able to ride the inevitable 2010s nostalgia wave.  ;)

Perhaps we wouldn't call it Satan Ninja. It could be something more topical for that era. Perhaps Terrorist Zombie 201X.

It has one thing though, it has the tried and tested tap someone on one shoulder while standing on the other side joke in it, the lingerie variant by the looks of it. That guy seems to think it's hilarious, as do I by the way..

Heheh. Gotta love lingerie variants of, well, anything.

Jessica had me watch that piece of shit movie the day after she did. Up until then I had thought that she loved me.

Soooo fuckin' bad. But yeah, that German poster is rad.

Eddie went throught all that shit in just 24 hours? Poor guy.

Yeah, I know it seems odd that such little time has passed in the comic since nearly a year has passed in reality since we launched this thing. But the comic opens during Eddie's birthday party on Thursday night, and then Connor's pool party took place Friday night. Busy couple of days.

Edit: by the way, where did the ninja's wings go?

We talked about whether we should include his wings or not when Jessica was sketching out the page. We decided not to since it's a pretty common trope in fiction for creatures that have shape-shifted in some way to revert to their natural state upon death.

Haha, I warned you. I think I wasted an entire day on that wiki. It just kept getting more insane the more I learned.

That ninja looks like he's been dead for a while, how much time has passed since Viperelli shot him?

It's actually only been about 24 hours. I even did research on the stages of decay to help Jessica get the corpse right. I think she just got carried away with making his eyes look creepy.

Sketched Jessica kiiiinda looks like a bra-clad Sonic the Hedgehog.

Hahaha! That's what I said to Jessica after I drew it. It reminds me of some of the awful Sonic fan art I've seen on the web. Like my favorite fucked up Sonic ripoff, Sonichu (warning: if you're not familiar with Sonichu, clicking on that link could lead you down a very long and insane rabbit hole).

The true story behind that Jessica picture is this: I was putting Jessica to sleep (since her shifts have been starting at around 4am she goes to bed waaaaay before me), and she was adamant that I use her stupid touch screen phone to draw a picture of her before I left. I pretty much hate using any kind of touch screen device to navigate, let alone draw, so I drew that picture of her in mild frustrated annoyance just to placate her.

Heheh. That's a very interesting idea. However, Jessica and I kind of live in the past, and as a result, we're waaaaaaay behind on the pop culture of the modern world. Hell, we haven't even seen movies like Dark Knight Rises, Guardians of the Galaxy, or any of the Taken movies. We also haven't watched much TV in the past decade, so we've yet to see Lost, let alone newer shows like Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones. We're totally clueless when it comes to modern music as well since we don't ever listen to the radio and we don't tend to go places that play modern hits. I keep up with modern video game news, but I don't tend to play a lot of modern games. And when I do, it's often a retro game like Hotline Miami (one of all-time my favorites).

So I don't think we'd be able to do justice to the current decade the way we can the '80s. It's just not where our heart is.

A 199X series, on the other hand, is totally something we could consider doing someday.

This is kind of our Bilbo finding the one ring moment.

The woods are actually darker than they appear, but it's illuminated a bit for the sake of the reader. That's why Eddie doesn't notice the ninja corpse he tripped over. Plus his vision is shit without his glasses and he's got those crybaby tears to deal with.

Getting real close to wrapping up issue 2 now...
