I totally didn't open the front page when I was at work and I totally didn't them close it immediately upon seeing the thumbnail (because I didn't have it open see?). Yes definitively among the most explicit pages so far, although Eddie's day dream is also a serious contender.

The striptease act took me completely by surprise and then so did the kidnapping action. We can only guess at the motives of course, maybe they think it'll help them find that glove, maybe they need virgins to sacrifice (hah) or maybe ninja commander needs help finishing his ninja guy Ben game..?

Asterix the Gaul

Uh ... Axterios the Celt

::shurg::

Asterisk the Celt..  8)

I actually considered that, but thought Asterisk was too slight of a modification. I also considered something Star the Celt. It'd also help if I were more familiar with the comic.

I only really know the Dutch translations (from the original French I believe), and only from reading it when I was much, much younger. All the names are jokes on modern concepts (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asterix_the_Gaul for spoilers and examples of names in the comic) so anything goes. Tilde the Celt?

Did Sam cheekily get cooked up off-screen there? Great detail!

Or maybe not..  ???

Haha, that's terrible. Such a total mood killer if some hot babe was stripping for me, peeling down her panties all sexy-like and she says, "What do you think of my burger?"

I think it's more like a "why don't you come with me and I'll treat you to a burger" kind of thing..

Let's leave this here shall we..?

I've only seen the new one and I enjoyed it. Which one was the truer grit in your opinion?

Shit, you've backed me into a corner here. Since I tend to be a purist, I sorta have to say that the original True Grit is the truer grit by virtue of it being first. That said, the remade True Grit is the grittier.

Films these days are grittier in general though, if we place them both in the context of contemporary films the original might be relatively grittier?

The Eternal Departed = The Grateful Dead

This one's wrong. But I can't blame you, as the real-world band that inspired The Eternal Departed is extremely obscure and is one of the only (in fact I think it's the only) parody name that isn't inspired by something from the '80s ...

Has to be the EverDead, a horror-themed rock band from Grand Rapids, MI. formed in the spring of 2000..  8)

Oooo, I heard their singer was a mega hunk!

The online description didn't mention that, only that he did the vocals. I'll have to take your word for it..

Also Beef Lord sounds like a porn alias..

Yeah, there might've been more to Eddie's old job than flipping burgers... ugh.

There was an old True Grit?

Yeah, it was famous John Wayne movie from the late sixties. I think John Wayne won an award for it. Jessica and I watched a few John Wayne westerns and we weren't too into them, although The Searches was pretty good. We're definitely more in the Eastwood camp.

I've only seen the new one and I enjoyed it. Which one was the truer grit in your opinion?

Personally I like different types of movies for different reason. I like shallow action movies with spectacular special effects and cheeky punch lines and sometimes I want to see something that leaves me amazed and gives me food for thought for a week.

I count re-makes under the first category. I might watch them but I'm not really missing out if I don't. Superhero movies are similar, there's very little connection with reality in them for me but I still enjoy watching them.

Comic Book Girl 19 is probably right that re-making so many movies is a business decision and I can't really blame them, although occasionally there will be one that takes a slightly different perspective on things and perhaps provides a critique of contemporary society and focuses on that rather than on an original story. Think the musical Jesus Christ Superstar (a bit older than what we're focusing on here, but ok). Clearly a re-make of a story that's been told many times, but from a completely different perspective (Judas'). It's the perspective that makes it interesting I think, which contrasts it with Passion of the Christ, which didn't tell me anything new at all.

I love how Eddie reveals his identity to Razor just like that, he clearly still needs to get the hang of this ninja-ing badass stuff. I'm sure his "I want you to stop bullying people" will make him review his life and turn him into an upstanding and charitable citizen..  8)

Great page, the body language of the characters is very well done with everybody being very contrite in the final panel..

You should mispronounce it and stress the first syllable though, Dutch stresses the last syllable which makes it sound a bit lame in my not-so-humble opinion..

Well of course I'm going to pronounce it to sound as much like Megatron as possible.

This is how it sounds the best anyway..

Another possibility would be finding a few guys who'd be interested in making a sort of beat em up platform enthusiasts can use to make their own games with. Basically a program you can plug simple animations into, some environments, etc.

In order to showcase what the platform can do you'd build a game with it, which would be excellent advertisement for SN8X if that were to be the game..

Ah, sort of a Trojan Horse approach. Not a bad idea, but what you're suggesting is that we'd make the street brawler equivalent to RPG Maker. Making a highly customizable editor that's accessible and easy to use would take a lot of effort, and then we'd still have to use that engine to create an SN8X game on top of that. If we're going to spend the time to create an SN8X video game, we'd want to focus on simply making the best SN8X video game we can. That means creating a game engine that's geared specifically to the gameplay elements we'd have in our game, without worrying about sticking to features that would lend itself well to a "universal" street brawler game.

This would only work of course if you could find a group of programmers who were already planning on doing such a thing.

Also, I'd want there to be more to the game that simply being a Double Dragon clone with SN8X-themed graphics. But it's waaaaay too early for me to really get into that.

This kind of kills the idea though..
