Another possibility would be finding a few guys who'd be interested in making a sort of beat em up platform enthusiasts can use to make their own games with. Basically a program you can plug simple animations into, some environments, etc.

In order to showcase what the platform can do you'd build a game with it, which would be excellent advertisement for SN8X if that were to be the game..

Eh, maybe I should've worded that last sentence differently ...

Anyway, it's pretty incredible how much the street brawling genre had improved just a few years later when Double Dragon came out.

No,  it's perfect.

Double Dragon was great, I had a version on my game boy and played it over and over again..

I had to re-read the entire thread to figure out what this was about and where the conversation went. My initial response was the exact same as it was back then, by the way..

I still haven't seen that new-ish Conan film, I haven't read the books, I no longer go to work by train and I'd almost forgotten I have Golden Axe on my laptop.

Definitely stay on this side of the law, there's potential for never ending pain if you steal something while trying to become successful.

That said, a quick google search informed me that creating a side-scroll beat-em-up game is incredibly difficult and not something to do by yourself on the side.

Yeah you guys are definitely getting the hang of podcasting there. I really enjoyed that episode, thanks for that!

I also feel the need to watch this movie now. How does it compare with The Thing? That's from '82 as well right? I remember seeing that for the first time and not having a clue what I was watching..

I'm listening and I just had to stop and laugh when I heard "I don't know how affluent she was". Love it!

This page is awesome.  Not only a great action sequence but in true 80's style,  bad guys go down one at a time leading to the toughest of them all getting beaten effortlessly by the hero.

Wait, are you saying that Toxic (pink-haired babe) is the toughest of the punks? I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm wondering what brought you to that conclusion. Is it the lack of a bra betraying her confidence?

I guess I should have explained it better, I'm predicting that Eddie faces off with Razor.  I feel that even though Razor got knocked down by Eddie it wasn't an actual face to face battle it was just Eddie making sure Sam didn't lose his wiener.  On the other hand I sure wouldn't want to face Toxic she does look rather intimidating......well maybe I would

Judging from the previous page she's not, ehm, easily impressed.

Razor would work better as a final boss in this setup since he's got his alpha status to defend. If Eddie had only roughed up the others a little bit his position as strongest of the gang would only have been reinforced but since he has been kicked to the ground he's going to have to show them who's boss. Not an easy job against someone who can slice bricks in half with a sword conjured up out of thin air.

I've got nothing against blondes, but I do think personality can improve or degrade attractiveness.

Fair enough. But now I'm curious to know how you think Heather has displayed a better personality than Veronica. They're actually quite different, but that hasn't been shown much in the comic. So far, they've pretty much been shown to be different hair flavors of the same preppy popular girl archetype.

Looks like you've painted yourself into a corner there Mich.. ;)

Fun fact, "magnetron" is the Dutch word for a microwave.  8)

That is awesome. It makes microwave sound all wimpy. That's it, I'm converting. No more wimpy microwaves in my place, only magnetrons. Hell yeah, heating up Beefaroni just got way more badass.

You should mispronounce it and stress the first syllable though, Dutch stresses the last syllable which makes it sound a bit lame in my not-so-humble opinion..
Excellent username. I wish more people referred to themselves using words for utterly mundane things..

Never heard of it unfortunately, but then I'm notoriously oblivious to what's happening in the world..

Listened to the Vision Quest episode. I love how you guys don't seem to agree on anything here. Jessica, like me, can't stomach this sort of wet nonsense and Adam is trying to put a positive spin on things. Especially when it gets down to grading it.

I probably wouldn't finish watching this movie. I mean, a rape attempt? That should really be where it ends with the guy going to jail..

Just listened to the first, I loved the captain pentastar joke! ;D

Honestly though this movie sounds so quintessentially 80s I can't believe you didn't end up giving it 4/5. I haven't seen anything beyond the trailer and I know how cringe worthy this slapstick stuff can get at times but it sounds like an utter classic.

Anyway, on to Vision Quest!
Edit: having just seen the theatrical trailer you posted I too wanted to strangle myself in the nearest piece of cloth. I can't wait to hear how you dragged yourself through this shite! :o

About the updates, as someone who needed a year to write his thesis I know that sometimes it's just not happening and at other times things seem to flow straight from your brain into your computer. The quality of the drawings make waiting more than worth it and I guess it definitely beats having to go back and redo panels later on.

Oh man, I almost forgot I was going to drop science and become a big-time Hollywood producer and then approach you with an irresistible offer for you to write and direct a big budget movie adaptation of SN8X. I'm so easily distracted..

Damn you scientist dudes and your easily distractible natures!

I already forgot I posted this.. ;)
