Love how it's just anti-climactic. And yes I noticed him reading that issue mentioned earlier. The orgy bit made me laugh as well. So does this mean that Psycho Sam's vision  was totally real?

He kind of looks like the default male character from Mass Effect. No idea what influences that robot suit comes from. I initially thought that thing from Aliens but it looks too different. Maybe Guts Man from MegaMan.
"King of the Bedroom" that made me laugh.

We have some other cameos planned for the comic, as our way of thanking our most ardent supporters. Of course, like Maddox, anyone who appears in the comic will be getting an ‘80s makeover and a subtle name change.

Does this mean that yours truly will make an appearance in the comic book? Or did my very brief breakup put you through too much emotional distress that it will take time for you to forgive me?

Believe me (or don't believe me, see what I kind of did there?), the emotions and facial expressions in that video was exactly how I felt. But as I'm a great person, I have mercy and have decided to stay. Besides, it's April 2nd where I am anyway (so if you want to know the future, just ask). Regarding the video, I personally love it. So entertaining with an awesome song.

I have to say, I'm not really sure how I feel about this. As a matter of fact, as someone who's dedicated my mental energy to this since December, I'm actually really dissappointed. It's been fun, but I'm afraid that from now on, we'll have to go, as Journey would say, our Separate Ways.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LatorN4P9aA Conveys EXACTLY how I'm feeling right now.
Well I guess this is it. Goodbye.
(oh and by the way, that's definitely a reference to a NES yeah?)

Damn. I think I might leave it at that. But yes, The Thing is an awesome movie (although it would suck if you're Norwegian because what the guy says at the start in Norwegian spoils the movie).

Damnn, I was so sure I was correct (although in my defense, I only said the outline of the wolf looked like it). That totally looked like a red vest to me, but now that I look closer, it does appear to be a wooly coat.
And I've actually seen The Thing and yet I don't remember a wolf-like creature in it, although it was four years ago and I saw over half of it on a projector screen in a classroom with tones of light coming in, so I could barely see anything.
We were watching because my 20th Century history class was looking at media from the Cold War era, and The Thing was set in a very cold place in a war against The Thing. Get it....
Actually it was because it was allegory for not knowing who and who isn't a communist, and the levels of ditrust.

Adam, you said I could do this, so I've decided I'm going to resurrect damned threads from the dead to guess their references.

OK, so the title of the arcade game looks to be a mash-up of Double Dragon and Bad Dudes Vs. DragonNinja, as do the characters, as they're both wearing singlets, one black but the other red, along with bandanas. The gameplay looks as though it's from the arcade Ninja Gaiden while the background looks as though it's from Castlevania. The werewolf in the corner has the outline of TeenWolf while it's clothes are that of Back To The Future, so Michael J. Fox 1985. How good did I do?

You're sure right about that. Her expression is perfect. Speaking of Alex, any clues on who she's influenced by? She's a major character and I have no idea.
Damn (I keep saying that a lot don't I) Grandma can be really blunt and harsh. Also the picture of the pig in the background. Past beloved pet?

I can't believe it took me ages to figure that out, seeing as The Cure are the most famous Gothic Rock band of all. It was because the hair wasn't parted in the middle which I'm so used to seeing him having.
In fact here's a video of Robert Smith actually in a haunted house wearing pyjamas (although they're stripy, not polka dots) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijxk-fgcg7c
Damn, this thread is one big 80s Gothic Rock reference pool. I promise this'll be the last time I try to guess something, because I have no idea what Kitty is influenced by.

40
Wait, is Rio's make up inspired by Robert Smith of The Cure?

Hi Matty, totally off-topic but it's funny to see you use "you's" there. I've only heard that in Glasgow so far but apparently this is a thing in parts of Australia as well?
We sure do (or at least I do). As much as spellcheck wants to discourage me from using it, I use it anyway.

The comic definitely fits the criteria for being featured, it's very premice is fantasy and sci-fi.

I have to say that I agree with Jessica, in that it should only have references from 1980-1989, after all it's Satan Ninja 198X (which I think is the perfect name for the comic, encapsulates everything that it is) for a reason. Although it must be pretty painful to not be able to reference Total Recall.
Also, I've been reading and hearing about how you's want to expand the comics readership, which I have some ideas for.
First of all, on the New Retro Wave Youtube channel, whenever they upload a new video, there's always an 80s-esque picture to accompany it, quite a few in this comics style. I think your illustrations would be perfect for it. The channel has about 100,000 subscribers with around 10,000 views per video, and the kind of people who'd watch those videos are the EXACT kind of people who'd read your comic, so the comic could be advertised in the comments or video description.
Secondly, io9 has a thing where they're looking for artwork to be submitted, so you's could probably submit something to them. In fact, they could probably just run a story on your comic in general without a picture, since it has a lot of fantastical elements in it. Plus I think it has high readership figures.
So there's my ideas, do or not do what you want with them.

Lets just say that I was going through the whole of what's here so far looking for references and a couple pages back I noticed something. It's quite clever I should say.

I've heard of shadowrun as a SNES video game, just found it's also a boardgame.

My idea was similar to your's except the apocalypse happened in 1990 and was set 100 years later in 2090
What I very much had in mind was Bladerunner and Akira esque cities. It was too hard to think of multiple stories to set on Earth so I've decided to have stories set in multiple parts of the galaxy, although Earth's cities are still 80s like. I wanna work an 80s aesthetic into it somehow.

OK I'm guessing Shade is somewhat based off Elriva (also, I believe I know who Shade really is and why she's nervous). Regarding how I know the others? What can I say? I'm just really intelligent. OK, I'm not gonna lie, since I'm such a wonderful person, I'm gonna be honest and say that me knowing them partially has to do with me seeing this video a few weeks back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aanGIkAzFy4.

Wow, I wouldn't have guessed that to be what brought you here. That's awesome. Have you played the original two Fallout games? I served as a lead writer and voice actor for what's probably the most popular Fallout 2 mod, the Restoration Project.

I totally understand the hate a lot of the old Fallout fans give to Fallout 3. It's a radical departure from the games they loved. I actually enjoy Fallout 3, despite being a huge fan of the original games. It doesn't hold up to them, but I just kind of view it as its own thing. It probably helps that I like playing the Elder Scrolls games.
Funny thing is I only started played Fallout 3 because me, my brother and a friend were in the city and we saw the then recently released Fallout 4 on the television screen in a shop window of a media and electronics store. My brother had already bought 3 some years before, so he said I should try it out. So if it hadn't been playing on at that time, I wouldn't be here.

No I haven't played the first two, but despite what I read from them, I still enjoyed the game. I guess I was really interested in how retro-future 50s aesthetic held over into the future and into the apocalypse. I myself, who plans maybe on being a sci-fi writer (I'm 20) had ideas for a post apocalyptic 80s aesthetic cyberpunk world (I dropped but still intend to have plans an 80s esque world). So what that game did with it's lore interested me.

do they have hot dogs in Australia?
Yep.

I agree, she totally nailed the '80s goth look. And you, Australian Dude, nailed Morley's influences. Good job. Frost, however, is not inspired by Billy Idol, though I could see where you'd get that, with the hair.
So Australian Dude's my nickname? That was quick.
I knew it wasn't Billy Idol, since he's not exactly a goth rocker and has already been referenced anyway. Sisters Of Mercy? With the sunglasses, leather jacket and all.
