...Has it been almost two years since my last post? I hope, as always, that everyone is doing well.

Thins are ... really fucking bad. Jessica and I are going through some issues. and I don't know how things will affect the comic. I love Jessica, and I love this comic, so I hope things can work out, but we'll see.

Holy shit! Since our comic has been on hiatus so long, I've totally gotten used to the only forum posts being spam. Coincidentally, the spambots often have usernames like yours, so I just logged in fully intending to delete your post. But before I hit that delete button, I noticed your post didn't have a link to some spammy bullshit, so I read it and discovered that, holy fuck, it's a real post! By a human!

I was googling 80s Ninja movie reviews

I like this dude already ...

when I came across your review for Enter the Ninja. I was taken aback by the delightfully un-PC descriptions of the lead actress. I checked out the rest of your site and it's very cool.

Thanks a ton, dude! You just caused me to go back and read some of my old reviews--I had forgotten how good they were (this totally counts as a humble statement, since I'm admitting forgetfulness). I hope you got to our Ninja III review--that was my favorite of the trilogy.

Now, I'd feel like a dick for posting on this forum without addressing yonder elephant. So for all you lurkers who still lurk on over to this forum every few weeks to see if we've finally announced the death of Satan Ninja: Fuck no. While my pizza-fueled heart still beats, SN8X will not be abandoned. As those of you who have dropped by some of Jessica's recent twitch streams already know, progress has been shamefully slow, but it is being made, and some recent developments have sped things up. Big time.

I'll have more to say soon. In an actual blog post next time.

Happy Halloween everyone.

Discuss Anything / Re: Satan Ninja gaunlet vs. Infinity Gauntlet

Hey, Red! Sorry for the delayed response, but I wanted to wait until after I had watched Avengers: Endgame before I even looked at this thread (Jessica and I are both huge spoiler crybabies).

As for your question ... I'll go ahead and pick my baby over the Thanos mitten. I'm not familiar with the Infinity Gauntlet in the comics, but in the movies, it seems to be little more than a receptacle for the Infinity Stones. And apparently there's nothing too special about it even as a receptacle since [spoiler alert!] Tony Stark was able to jam the gems into his iron man gauntlet.

The Shinobi Fist of Hellpower, on the other hand, comes in-tact out of the box with no assembly required. Just pure satanic ninjitsu power right in the palm of your hand. Hell yeah.

[P.S. For any of you lurkers reading this and wondering what's up with the comic: Jessica's been recovering from having a fucked up shoulder (connected to her drawing arm, of course), but she's sitting near me and working on the comic as I type this. So it's been delayed, but it's not dead.]

Discuss Anything / Re: RIP Stan Lee
« on: November 12, 2018, 11:35:39 PM »
A few years ago I started to read all the big silver-age Marvel comics in chronological order, starting with the first issue of the Fantastic Four in the early '60s, and I was amazed to learn just how many notable characters Stan Lee had a hand in creating--most within the span of a few years. I wouldn't be surprised if he's created/co-created more truly iconic pop culture fictional characters than any other person.

The dude led a full-as-fuck life and left behind an astounding legacy.

Edit: Also, as I've mentioned before, though it wasn't intentional, it seems that I must've been subconsciously inspired by Spider-Man when I was creating Satan Ninja 198X, as the similarities are too numerous to deny. So I suppose the existence of this rad comic is owed in part to Stan Lee.

How much of a job would it be for Jessica to get her hair back to it's original color?

She'd have to go quite a while without dying it, but I don't see her doing that anytime soon. She's been coloring her hair since she was about 13, so we're not even too sure what her natural hair color would look like now. She's a natural blonde, but her hair's probably a much darker blonde now than when she was little. It'd be interesting to see.

I'm on some serious Jessica withdrawal. The uniform is badass.

Hey, super awesome to see you here, dude!

Jessica got caught up doing a bunch of art for a friend's wedding, but it was a surprise, so she didn't want to stream while working on it. That's why she's been gone from Twitch for a while. But now that that's done, she'll be streaming again this week, I'm sure.

Is Jessica going to pursue a career in law enforcement  and this is just a stepping stone?

No, this is more Jessica wanting to add some structure and steady income to her life. She's really into science and history, so she was interested in working at a museum, and saw that they had an opening for a security guard position.

Jessica just started a new job working security at a museum (queue the Night at the Museum jokes), so between that, a couple other art obligations, and preparing to be in a friend’s wedding, the next Satan Ninja page has been delayed. But hey, she's looking mighty snazzy in her new uniform! (By the way, she still has blue hair, but she has to wear a wig to work, since the museum isn't cool with having a blue-headed security guard--but they're totally fine with displaying naked corpses).

Work on the comic will continue, though progress might be slow for a while until Jessica settles into a new routine. She's hopeful that giving her life a little structure by working this job will end up benefiting her productivity on the comic. But in the meantime, instead of adhering to any kind of set release schedule, we'll post pages as soon as they're ready.

If you haven’t already, you can sign up for our [1]=true&group[7909][2]=true]mailing list and we’ll shoot you an email as soon as a new page goes live.

Of course we couldn’t have an ‘80 pizzeria/arcade in the comic without showing the animatronic house band.

As a kid, I remember being both intrigued and frightened by the animatronic band at ShowBiz Pizza (which later became Chucky Cheese). I didn’t remember the name of the band until I did research for this page. It was called The Rock-afire Explosion (which is, like, way too badass of a name for it), and there’s even a documentary about the band on YouTube.

So I went with Heather, though I think it will be a tough race between her, her sister Alex, Ket, and Minxy

Minxy has the disadvantage of hardly being in the comic so far. She's been on the TV once, on Eddie's poster, and on the Demon Hammer album cover that you can barely see within the comic. But that'll change...

Don't think Veronica will be a top contender, huh? What've you got against blondes?

Appreciated and feeling glad to tell you that you are right

Thanks, dude! And welcome to the forum.

Jessica and I were guests on the latest episode of the Dionysian Dialectics podcast, which must be the most high-brow sounding show to ever dedicate an entire episode to discussing ninjas, Satan, boobs, and the 1980s. Awesome.

We had a great time talking to the host, Alexander Quaresma, who's an all-around rad dude. Check it out, and you can hear us reveal a lot of the '80s influences that inspired characters in the comic, and you can also learn why Satan Ninja Eddie up there in the header has short hair.

I hope Trance just keeps calling it Roborexus.  It has a much nicer ring to it than Mobile-Rexus.

Oh, no worries. He was only joking about calling it Mobile-Rexus.

Also, if Trance is like Tony Stark, does that mean he's going to build a high-powered suit at some point?

I won't say it's not possible. However, I'll just clarify that we didn't base Trance on Tony Stark at all. He's more based on the character Data from The Goonies, with a bit of Chris Knight from Real Genius, among others.

Furthermore, I'm pretty interested to see where Heather's fascination with Satan Ninjas leads to.

There's a lot more to Heather than most would guess. There's definitely some stuff we're excited to eventually reveal.

When they're playing Downtown Beatdown , it reminds me of playing Double Dragon 2 on two player B mode.   That's because in that mode you could actually beat up your partner and kill them, by knocking him into a pit for instance.  Back in the day I would play Double Dragon 2 by myself and I would select two player B mode.  The reason I did so was because of the stealing lives trick.

I was a big Double Dragon fan in my youth--the first game I ever beat was the first Double Dragon in the arcade. So I played quite a bit of Double Dragon II on the NES, but I'm not sure if I knew about that trick of using the two player B mode. Interesting.

Also, Battletoads is a game that's notorious for the whole 'friendly fire' thing in two player mode (I've never actually played that game though).

Oh man, Battletoads. I either owned that game or I simply rented it a lot. Can't remember. But I never beat it. Even when using the Game Genie cheat device. Last year I booted up a ROM of it and was determined to set right that wrong, but even using save states, I couldn't beat it.

Fuck Battletoads. (However, I was totally into the Dark Queen.)

I don't know about you, but I think it's odd that such an option even exists.

It exists to ruin friendships, of course.

Last summer, during our "honeymoon," Jessica and I played through my favorite co-op NES game, River City Ransom. That has friendly fire, but it didn't end up becoming an issue. Maybe due to the power of our love.
